For talking about a digital museum/library of puertorriqueñidad, the Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC; www.dloc.com) may be a good partner and collaborator for the potential work you're writing about. dLOC is a cooperative digital library for resources from and about the Caribbean and circum-Caribbean. dLOC provides access to digitized versions of Caribbean cultural, historical and research materials currently held in archives, libraries, private collections, and scholar collections. The University of Puerto Rico is one of the partners in dLOC and all partners contribute materials from their collections. I'm the technical director for dLOC and would be happy to help with any questions and discussion on this.

I agree that de-academization, as you call it, is necessary. But I do think that BOTH are necessary, and that vibrant interchange between academics, non-academics, and others are necessary.

Hmm... I do still think theory is important. But also I think what is even more important is the de-academization of theory. Theory continues to live and breath. But where it is living and breathing, where it is the most lively, may not necessarily be in academia or within authoritative academic discourse.

This new life given to theory is exactly why I find blogs about 10x more exciting than books or articles.

I am editing a 3-volume, 450,000-word Encyclopedia of Latino Culture for Greenwood Press, an imprint of ABC-CLIO. I am inviting scholars to write a 2000-word essay on Nuyorican Literature and another on Nuyorican Art
